What's getting you down?
Sometimes adults say you’ve got it easy. But you know better.
You’re at the mercy of your family. Younger brothers and sisters
won’t leave you alone. Parents seem to pick on you and treat you
like a baby. They don’t understand who you really are. Or they
don’t have time for you at all. Some friends are a blessing. But
others give you a tough time. And school is hard work.
Give yourself a break. Your parents may not remember,
but they felt the same way when they were your age. In fact, when
adults are asked what they remember most about their teenage
years, the number one answer is, 'the pressure'.
Look around. Everybody has problems even if it doesn’t
seem that way. Everyone has to learn to cope with what life has
dealt them. Don’t assume that other people have it easier.
Getting depressed sometimes is normal. Wanting out sometimes,
that’s normal too. It’s a non-stop world - we all want a little
calm in the storm.
Time to take charge. Avoiding things that bother and upset
you may seem like the easiest way to handle situations.
But, the ONLY way to feel better is to make things
change yourself. Use your brain and take charge.
